The VCA is a strong advocate and supporter for wheelchair curling in Australia. Developments in Wheelchair curling to date include: - come and try at the Nationals; and - visit to Queensland (supported by the VCA) to establish wheelchair curling through Queensland Wheelies and the Queensland Curling Association.
Ron Finneran, Director Disabled Wintersport Australia and Jim Oastler travelled to Brisbane in order to establish a wheelchair curling presence in Queensland. A come and try session was held for four wheelchair athletes. Their response was positive, with the opportunity to learn a new sport one that addresses their requirements to make their game fun and competitive. A new Canadian wheelchair curling site has been established at www.wheelchaircurling.com. This is a site that will provide opportunities for wheelchair curlers to inquire and express their views on the sport of wheelchair curling.
If you know of any Victorian wheelchair athletes who might be interested in playing let us know contact us .
